Amaya was born from a simple need: to reconnect. Our journey began from the yearning for a sanctuary, a space far from the chaos of the city; free of noise, distraction and the demands of the lives we had created for ourselves. We wanted a nest from where we could watch the mist that cloaks the mountains at dawn, a cradle where we might be lulled by a gentle mountain breeze, a home where the night would bring a million stars to dazzle us. A quiet place where we could slow down and rediscover life.
Amaya is that space: a commune, a philosophy, an agent of symbiosis that enriches the lives of all that inhabit it, but also the land upon which it is built.
Amaya offers an interesting choice of accommodations that include chalets, suites and villas so stays can be highly customised.
All our accommodations offer King Size beds, en-suite bathrooms with natural light. Amenities include a curated tea / coffee station, sustainable bath & skin products and personal items set in tastefully furnished spaces. Villas offer a private living and dining space, three en-suite bedrooms, a study along with a fully equipped, functioning kitchen ideal for a luxurious holiday for families.
All our guests are offered a welcome drink on arrival, a full breakfast and crafted Food & Beverage presentations during their stay.
A King Size bedroom with a en-suite bathroom which is perfect for two adults, sits on hill terraces, allowing for a more passive and gentle integration with the land.
Expansive 450 square feet suites featuring a King bedroom and a separate study room bridged by an alley with the en-suite bathroom and walk-in shower room.
A three bedroom private abode, thoughtfully designed with your comfort in mind, each villa set across 3000 square feet.
Amaya’s Food Concept has evolved from the idea of sustainability in consumption. Years ago we started rejuvenating the terraced hills which were once used for farming and thought that most food should not have to travel long distances, it should be local. We now grow endless varieties of organic fresh vegetables around our homes. We planted a thousand fruit trees and now the site is full of apple, pear, plum, mulberry, fig and citrus fruit.
Amaya is designed by Bijoy Jain and his team at Studio Mumbai Architects. Bijoy mines his varied experiences of working around the world to create his unusual style of buildings, both in aesthetic and ethos. He is an architect who has a global view, one who “masters a true double background, western and Indian, that he uses as a source of richness”. His homes are deeply rooted in local culture, but radically contemporary in their design aesthetic.
Amaya’s commitment to sustainability extends far beyond treading softly on the environment—it considers how we can enrich the spaces that we occupy, and elevate its emotional spirit and our own. This philosophy has been moulded by Bijoy whose approach to architecture borders on the spiritual, especially where matters of sustainability are concerned.
